I promise to wear eye protection.

I just broke in my new one yesterday, cutting off seized tie-rods. Battery didn’t last very long; I’m seriously thinking about finally stepping up to lithium...

I went cheap and bought a corded one. But to be honest, the last time I used a cordless, it was so big and bulky I could barely position it to make the cut.

Not cheap. Better.

Do wear eye protection, because I can tell you from experience that getting metal embedded in your eyeball is not fun, and getting the subsequent rust removed from said eyeball is less fun. They literally tell you to pick a spot on the wall and focus on it, then they take a drill to your eyeball to remove the rust. Lastly, you get to wear an eyepatch for three weeks and run into shit.

Yeah, I’m finally using an actual garage, so there’s not much point in going cordless. I could see the convenience, though, back when I was working out in the street.

That sounds profoundly terrible. That sounds like a Saw movie.
I got a tiny flake of metal in my eye once and ended up at a clinic. I’m done with that.

I used mine yesterday to cut off the outer race of a driveshaft carrier bearing. It is kind of the nuclear option when you just can’t get something off “the right way.”

Indeed. I’m often stuck using the cutoff wheel on my tiny Dremel for jobs far too big for it, so I spent my Christmas Lowe’s gift card and bought the real thing.

Even the harbor freight ones last a long time. Hard to beat for $15, and so useful

Been there, done that, bought a nice pair of safety goggles immediately afterward.
Not a pleasant experience.

I really should have gone to Harbor Freight. I spent about $30 on mine, a basic Porter Cable.

Waiting for batteries to charge is pretty inconvenient, too.
If you are slicing a bolt, fine. If you are grinding down welds or doing heavy cutting it blows.
